Whether you’re bringing your partner, your best mate, or that one person you trust to pot the black under pressure, our Valentine’s Day Doubles Tournament is the perfect way to spend the night.
Join us on Thursday 12th February from 7pm in Maggie’s Bar & Café for an evening of competitive frames, good vibes, and plenty of laughs.
You can enter as a duo or sign up solo and get paired up on the night — all abilities welcome, no pressure, just good pool.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about playing together, backing your partner, and enjoying a proper QMU Pool Society night ?

Event: Valentine’s Day Doubles Pool Tournament
Date & Time: 12 February 2026, from 7:00pm

1. Eligibility
The tournament is open to all QMU students.
Players may enter as a pre-arranged doubles pair or as an individual.
Individual entrants will be paired at random where possible.
2. Playing Rules
All matches will be played under International (World Rules) pool rules.
These rules govern breaks, fouls, free balls, push shots, and finishes.
Any clarifications or local interpretations will be explained by organisers before play begins.
3. Tournament Format
The tournament will be played as a doubles competition.
Match format (group stage and/or knockout) will be confirmed on the night depending on entry numbers.
Frame targets and time limits will be communicated before the start of play.
4. Conduct & Sportsmanship
All participants must behave respectfully towards partners, opponents, referees, committee members, and venue staff.
Unsporting behaviour, abuse, or persistent disruption may result in warnings, loss of frames, or removal from the tournament at the discretion of organisers.
Alcohol consumption must remain responsible and comply with venue policy.
5. Refereeing & Disputes
Referees will be assigned by the organisers where possible.
Referee decisions are final.
In the absence of a referee, any dispute will be resolved by a QMU Pool Society committee member, whose decision will be final.
6. Health & Safety
Players must use equipment safely and adhere to all venue health and safety requirements.
Any accidents, injuries, or concerns must be reported immediately to a committee member.
7. Amendments & Authority
QMU Pool Society reserves the right to amend this policy, the tournament format, or scheduling where necessary to ensure fairness, safety, and smooth operation of the event.
8. Respect, Bullying & Harassment
QMU Pool Society operates a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, harassment, discrimination, or intimidating behaviour.
Any behaviour that undermines the safety, dignity, or enjoyment of participants, officials, or venue staff will not be tolerated.
Any individual found to be engaging in bullying or harassment will be immediately removed from the tournament.
Serious incidents will be reported to QMU Students’ Union (QMUSU) and may result in further disciplinary action in line with QMUSU policies.
